Jet program

Well it all begins with the informational session I attended two years ago in October of 2002. At the meeting you will be handed various documents that are "very" crucial to your application for the JET program. The Jet program application itself is quite long and does require a lot of effort and time on your part. However, since you're really interested in Japan, you shouldn't have any problem with motivation and drive to properly fill out the application. Because, if you "miss" one thing on the application, you'll be sorted out of the process. Welcome to the Eliminations!

Afterwards, I had to wait for a couple of months on whether or not I had an Interview with the jet program. About, December or January I received a letter stating that I had successfully passed the application process and was given the fortunate chance of an interview. I went to the interview and it lasted about 30-45 minutes and I came out of the interview feeling pretty good about my chances!

Like many other prospects, I played the waiting game for a while and in April I was notified that I had successfully passed the interview process. In May, I received my placement and at that moment you still have a chance of not accepting your placement. But, who in the right mind would turn down a job opportunity of a lifetime, right? So, after accepting my placement and attending various orientations, I was off to Japan with a wide eye for a "new experience" in life.

Well, I hope it helps anyone who is interested in applying for the JET program as well as those who are still deciding on whether to go to Japan.
I believe the JET program is the best way to experience Japan and its many "unique" cultural aspects. Remember:

1) You don't need to have any Japanese language skills

2) No teaching skills required, just your BA degree and
your enthusiasm!

3) It's the best possible way to travel throughout the
Pacific region

4) Meet and make friends with other people from around the
world, and

5) A lifetime experience that you will "never" forget!
